Making a difference in rice farming.

Rice is the most important staple food in Malaysia and what could be more important than contributing to sustainable rice farming? Best practices in agricultural activities may not be rocket science but sustainable agriculture helps to improve rice yields. FaveKad congratulates WWF-Malaysia’s Community Engagement and Education Senior Officer Alicia Ng for being the first Malaysian to receive the 2019 Professional Fellows Program Alumni Impact Award (AIA). Alicia’s work contributed significantly to sustainable rice farming in Ba’Kelalan in Sarawak. The Alumni Impact Award (AIA) recognises exceptional contributions made by the Professional Fellows Program alumni to their communities. In Southeast Asia, the Professional Fellows Program is implemented within the framework of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative, which is a signature programme by the US government to strengthen leadership development in Asia. Alicia completed her four-week fellowship in Arkansas in 2017 on organic and sustainable agriculture and conservation activities.
