Kuala Lumpur is Mastercard Inc. 6th most visited city in 2019

Kuala Lumpur was ranked sixth after Bangkok, Paris, London,Dubai and Singapore as the world’s most visited cities in September, 2019 by Mastercard’s Global Destination Cities Index, a third-party research, proprietary analysis and public data across 200 cities. The Mastercard Index is an annual report on international travel to cities around the world and the impact of international travel on driving local commerce. 2019 marks 10 years of insights from this index. Our capital city Kuala Lumpur ranks sixth with 13.79 million visitors in 2018, an increase of 9.87% over the total of 12.58 million visitors in 2017. Kuala Lumpur ranks eleventh in terms of visitor spending with a total of USD11.13 billion. This is an increase of 4.71% over the spending of USD9.27 billion the year before.
