Awal Muharram

The second holiest month after Hari Raya Aidilfitri comes Awal Muharram. It is also referred to as Maal Hijrah. The word “Hijrah” is derived from the Arabic word meaning moving or emigration. This occasion marks the emigration of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina in 622 AD.
