Federal Territory Day

Federal Territory Day is a recognized public holiday only in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan in commemoration of the day Kuala Lumpur came under federal control in 1974. Prior to this, Kuala Lumpur was part of Selangor until the signing of the agreement on 28 January 1974 which changed the status. Situated in Putrajaya, the Putra Mosque is a beautifully pinkish ornate mosque constructed with rose-tinted granite for its domes. The Putra Mosque was modelled after the Persian Islamic architecture of the Safavid empire and its 116-metre minaret resembles that of the Sheikh Omar Mosque in Baghdad.
