International Literacy Day

International Literacy Day is celebrated every year on September 8 to raise awareness and concerns on the issues surrounding literacy in the world. According to UNESCO, around 774 million people do not have sufficient literacy skills but on the other hand, about 4 billion people are literate in the world. Malaysians can and do read. This is very apparent as Malaysians read on average fifteen books a year and can be found constantly reading digital articles and e-books on their gadgets.
