Jade Emperor's Birthday

The 9th day of the 1st Chinese lunar month is the birthday of the Jade Emperor. It is a special celebration for the Hokkiens who offer thanksgiving prayers to the Jade Emperor on this day. They believe that their ancestors were protected from the ruthless army in ancient China when they hid in the sugarcane field on the 8th to 9th day of the lunar new year.
