Batu Ferringhi Beach, Penang (1950s)

Batu Ferringhi had a number of fishing villages before the advent of tourism. By the 1950s, it was the location of second homes of wealthy Penang residents. Lone Pine, the first bungalow turned family-run hotel opened in 1948.
