Administrative Professionals’ Day

Administrative Professionals’ Day is also known as Secretaries’ Day. It is celebrated annually to recognise the contributions of secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists and other administrative support professionals. There was a shortage of skilled administrative personnel in the United States during WWII. In 1942, the National Secretaries Association was established to recognise the contributions of administrative personnel to the economy, to support their personal development and to help attract people to take up jobs in the administrative field. The association changed name several times and in 1998, the Administrative Professionals’ Day was an official registered trademark. Although this celebration started in the US, the Administrative Professionals’ Day is observed in many other countries in the world.
