International Beer Day

International Beer Day is celebrated on the first Friday of August. The idea of an International Beer Day was conceived in 2007 in Santa Cruz, California by Jesse Avshalomov, but the day was founded by Aaron Araki, Evan Hamilton and Richard Hernande. International Beer Day has grown from a small localised event in west U.S. into a worldwide celebration. More than 200 cities in the world celebrate International Beer Day. The celebration takes place in pubs, breweries and backyards. The objectives of this special day are to gather with friends and enjoy the taste of beer; to celebrate those responsible for brewing and serving beer; and to unite the world under the banner of beers of all nations together in a single day. The International Beer Day was celebrated on August 5 every year from its inception in 2007 till 2012. After the celebration in 2012, the founders took a poll of fans and chose to move the day to the first Friday in August.
