Jade Emperor's Birthday

The Jade Emperor's Birthday falls on the 9th day of the Chinese lunar new year. Chinese who practise Taoism will set up tables that comprise three layers on the 8th night for the rites at midnight. The top layer contains offerings of six types of vegetables; the bottom two layers contain five sacrifices and wine to honour the deities below the Jade Emperor.
