Deepavali (Diwali)

Kolam is a floor design and it means ‘beauty'. It is an act that is encouraged in the Hindu scriptures. The coloured flour and grains used to draw the Kolam are to feed the birds and insects. Kolam is also drawn to welcome Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity into the home. It is also to drive away evil spirits and add aesthetic value to the home.
