Deepavali (Diwali)
Diwali or Deepavali is best known as the “Festival of Lights” because it means “rows of lights” in the Sanskrit language from which it is derived from. Celebrated on the fifteenth day of the month of Kartik, the holiest month in the Hindu lunar calendar, Diwali is the symbol of the triumph of light over darkness, of hope over despair and of knowledge over ignorance. It is also celebrated to honour Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity.
