Myanmar: Full Moon Day of Waso

Myanmar's Full Moon Day of Waso is a significant Buddhist holiday marking the beginning of the Buddhist Lent, or Vassa. Falling in July, it commemorates Buddha's first sermon, known as the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, delivered in the Deer Park at Sarnath. Devotees offer flowers, candles, and incense at pagodas, while monks begin their three-month retreat to deepen their practice. It is a time of reflection, meditation, and spiritual renewal, highlighting the essence of Buddhist teachings and the path to enlightenment.
