Malaysia is 25th most peaceful country in the world

The recent GE14 has proven to the world that Malaysia is a peaceful country. The people had voted for a change in government in a peaceful manner. This is reflected in the recently published Global Peace Index by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP). The Global Peace Index is the world’s principal measure of global peacefulness. Published on June 6, 2018 the Index ranks 163 independent states and territories according to their level of peacefulness. Although the Index shows that the world is less peaceful today compared with any time in the last decade, Malaysia’s ranking has improved from its 29th position in 2017 to 25th in 2018. Malaysians in general are peaceful people amidst diversity in culture, tradition, belief, language and religion.

Maka lenyaplah perasaan Muhibbah and perpaduan. Saya berharap dengan indeks keamanan ini, Kerajaan mengamalkan perumahan berdasarkan konsep yang mementingkan perpaduan berbilang kaum. Redzwan Latif
We showed the world that we could change our government in a peaceful manner. Now, we show the world that our peace index has improved. Syabas Malaysia! Geoshan
Global peace level deteriorated by 0.27% in the past year but Malaysia managed to improve in its ranking. We must be a whole bunch of peaceful people. Congratulations to Malaysia! Yuink Kang
The global level of peace has deteriorated for the fourth successive year. Tensions, conflicts and crises that emerged in the past years have not been resolved. However, we in Malaysia have shown our unity to live in harmony and peace. Nicholas Lee
In the past, during my grandparents and parents time, people in Malaysia lived in harmony. They were good neighbours who helped each other. However, this changed and everybody only looks after themselves. Some don’t even know who lives next door to them. Hopefully with this peace index, Malaysians will go back to their old ways of being good neighbours. Angeline Lim
