Bodhi Day

Bodhi Day is observed by Mahayana Buddhists. It commemorates the day when Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment under a Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya. Buddhists may meditate, study the Dhamma, chant sutras (Buddhist texts) or perform kind acts towards other beings to commemorate Bodhi Day. The Bodhi Day is celebrated on the same day as the Laba Day (Chinese) and Rohatsu (Japanese) on the 8th day of the 12th Chinese lunar month.
