Songkran

Songkran is the Thai New Year. It falls on April 13 every year but the celebration lasts until April 15. Having fun is part of the Thai culture and it is the time when those who celebrate Songkran travel back to their home towns for family reunions. Songkran is also known worldwide as the Thai Water Festival. The Thais believe that water is spiritually purifying and it cleanses away bad luck and grievances from the previous year and brings blessings of fortune and happiness for the year ahead.
